Artist's Statement

My work explores the relationship between social media and life as performance. With influences such as Rockwell and Kahlo, I seek to expose the tensions between orderly aesthetic, and instinctual expression. Ever since I was a student I have been fascinated by the traditional dichotomy of nature vs. nurture, and the ever-changing understanding of human interaction with the universe. What starts out as benign fascination of social interactions via the internet, soon becomes debased into a tragedy of isolation, social performance, and desperation to be noticed, leaving only a sense of longing for genuine contact. Through my work, I try to show the true meaning of social interaction, and I seek to leave the viewer with an epitaph for the inaccuracies of our new social world.

When doing commercial work, such as hand-painted portraits and film photography, I strive to give my customers high-quality pieces of artwork that they will enjoy for the rest of their lives. I seek to create timeless snapshots of their greatest moments in life.
