UNDER THE RADAR!

In 2003, winemaker Kirk Venge and his partners began producing the B Cellars wines. The “B” stands for “Brix,” which refers to the sugar/alcohol content when the grapes are picked, hoping for “optimal” ripeness to ensure a balanced wine.

B Cellars makes several wines that are worth sampling. We liked both the red and white blends, as well as the Cabernet Sauvignon. B Cellars also produces well-made Syrah and an interesting Sangiovese blend that is in the style of a classic Super Tuscan, which we thought was very interesting. The wines were pretty intense; they had a good balance of fruit and acidity, which led us to believe that they would pair nicely with rustic foods.

The tasting room is manned by an engaged team of consultants who are happy to share their extensive wine knowledge.

The grounds are beautifully manicured, featuring water elements and a comfortable patio area. Insider tip: At the time we visited, B Cellars offered a two-for-one tasting invitation on their website .
