How to Provide Delegate Access for Your Apple Developer Account?
Many of our customers are having issues with providing us needed credentials in order to submit applications to Apple App Store.
First you need to check if you have the Two-Factor Authentication enabled.
Note that the Two-Factor Authentication is mandatory now.
To check the Two-Factor Authentication enter the Developer Section and see if you have such warnings:
If you do have this warning, then you need to proceed and enable the Two-factor Authentication first. An Apple device may be required in order to do this.
Apple has two types of Verification against unknown login attempts:
- Two-Step Verification: two-step verification protects access to certain activities with users’ Apple ID since 2013. This method introduces an extra verification step in addition to the password. Generally speaking, the secondary verification step is required when signing into Apple ID or iCloud, or making a purchase from a new device. There are as many as four different methods that can be used to receive codes for two-factor authentication.
This Verification can be turned off.
- Two-Factor Authentication: Apple views two-factor authentication (first released in 2015 with iOS 9) as an improvement over the previously used two-step verification. The new and improved security method is built directly into iOS 9 and OS X El Capitan, and cannot be used on devices running older versions of iOS.
This Verification can not be turned off and it's enabled by default if your Apple account was created from iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch that uses a passcode, with iOS 9 and later or Mac with OS X El Capitan and iTunes 12.3 and later.
1. Delegate Access for an Organizational/Enterprise account
Note! Delegate access to app submission can be provided only if you have an Organizational Apple Account. If you don't have such an account proceed to the "Provide access using a Verification Code" step.
According to our Submission Tutorial you have several options on how to deliver your app to the Store. Some of them requires you to provide us in the submission process needed credentials in order to login and prepare everything for submission.
As we can see, some of our customers do, have issues when generating certificates used to sign the app. This is why often SeattleCloud Build Engineers ask users to delegate access to their Apple Developer Account, so we could manage certificates for them, this can speed up the process of submission.
Please note that SeattleClouds Build Engineers need access to both Apple Portals:
iTunes Portal is used to upload apps to App Store. Only apps can be managed here. You need to login and delegate access from 'Users and Access' menu tab. More info about roles may be found here.
Apple Developer Portal is used to managed app certificates which an apps uses. Only certificates may be managed here. You need to login and delegate access from 'People' menu tab. More info about roles may be found here.
2. Provide access using a Verification Code for an Individual account
The Verification Code is sent by SMS when your account is accessed, you need to send this verification code up on access. Note that if you want to submit the application using a Verification Code consider to mention this in the Review Notes that you'll contact us on this case, so we do not reject your application. Review Notes can be found in App Store Properties in your application dashboard or during submission process in App Store Properties step.
If you do provide an access using a verification code, make sure also to generate the app-specific password for the Application Loader. More details are provided here. App-specific password can be generated in your Apple ID Account page. You can provide the app-specific password in Review notes or in the credentials step during the submission process. For the new Transporter app also will be required a verification code. In sum you'll have to provide it twice via chat. Make sure to mention in Review Notes if you need to provide additional details via Live Chat before the app'll be submitted. The build requests are received till 5:00 PM EET after which these can be processed. Note that if you submit the app consider to contact us during our working time right away in other case the app'll be rejected due two factor authentication if it will have the pending status for too long without you contacting us.
